3 Women Wounded By Shotgun Fire In Calumet Heights

CHICAGO (CBS) — Three women are recovering after being wounded by shotgun fire in the South Side’s Calumet Heights neighborhood Monday evening.

Police say a man with a shotgun came out of an alley and opened fire at 93rd Street and Jeffery Avenue around 6 p.m. Monday.

Eva Spencer, 49, was shot in the arm and thigh, and a 63-year-old woman was shot in the leg, police said. Both were taken in stable condition to Advocate Trinity Hospital.

A 66-year-old woman was also shot, but refused medical treatment, police said.

Spencer tells the Chicago Tribune she believes the man who shot her was the same one who burglarized her home and stole three TV sets.

Police will not confirm that information.

All three women are expected to recover fully from their injuries.

“A man came out of an alley and opened fire”. A tall man? A short man? A black man? A white man? An old man? A young man? This story is irrelevant without the description of the shooter.

I’d say that it’s pretty much a given that it’s a “Black man” , Dan.

Did they catch the person? Police really need to beef it up in the Calumet Heights Neighborhood. I live in the area and was also burglarized earlier this year. I was talking to my neighbor this past Sunday (10/09) and she was also a victim of a break in. It is happening a lot in this area. This area is considered what use to be called middle class, nice houses people who have worked hard to maintain a good living for their family and themselves. It’s a crying shame these punks can’t be caught. I guess if I lived you know where, this area would be on LOCK DOWN!
