Thief Uses Crane To Steal Car From Dealership

CHICAGO (CBS) — An Indiana car dealer is calling it “the craziest” idea for stealing a vehicle.

A surveillance camera at Laporte Chrysler shows someone driving a truck with a crane onto the lot – hooking up a 2008 Jeep Wrangler – then loading it onto a trailer.

The thief, wearing a hood, then drove off. The unique theft–on Sunday morning–took only six minutes.

“We didn’t know what to think … people come up with any idea to steal something,” dealership owner Matt Magnuson told WSBT in South Bend. “This has to be the craziest one.”

It’s hoped the surveillance video will help catch the thief.

If they were real smart they would have stolen the crane and trailer to steal the jeep so nothing can be traced back to them.

Pretty hard to conceal ownership in a crane (or boom truck as it probably was) there are not that many out there.

  • Very Impressive

    Absolutely Engenius!!

  • No Mercy

Too complex for a brother to have done.

I was thinking the exact same thing!!
