CHICAGO (STMW) – Two men were critically injured during a West Side fire Sunday morning, police said.

The blaze started just after 5 a.m. at a building in the 4300 block of West Monroe Street, according to police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.

Two – one in his late 40s and the other about 60 – to unidentified hospitals in critical condition because they had inhaled smoke, said Perez.

The victims were reportedly squatters in the vacant building.
