(WSCR) With the Bears on the bye week, Bears radio analyst Tom Thayer thinks the new structure of the bye week will ultimately hurt the Bears.

The new collective bargaining agreement ensures each team give their players four consecutive days off.

“You can’t capitalize on a little bit of time to freshen up your skills and fundamentals and put them into use at faster than a walk-through speed,” Thayer told The Mully and Hanley Show. “A lot of those games after the bye-weeks have been difficult games. It’s hard to turn it off and then turn it back on in such a short amount of time. When you let these guys get away for four complete days, it’s turned off.”
