GROBBER---Nov 3,2011

==================

***No shock in that Theo Epstein wasted little time after Tuesday's news conference to dismiss Mike Quade as Manager. Quade will not be retained in the Cub organization. He has one year left on his contract.

***Ryne Sandberg is NOT a candidate to replace Quade. He was informed by Epstein via a phone call. Epstein did fly to Florida to inform Quade that a Manger change was taking place.How about Sandberg Managing the Cardinals who received permission from the Phillies to talk to the Hall of Famer! Joe McEwing,the new White Sox 3B Coach also is a candidate for the Redbirds job.

***The Bears head to Philadelphia Monday night still holding a Wild Card slot(They are tied with Atlanta and Tampa Bay,but beat them both and thus hold the tie breaker over those teams).A win over the revitalized Eagles would be huge for the Bears who may have Earl Bennett and Gabe Carimi back. The Eagles remain the NFL's top rushing team.

***Yes that 63-60 Northern Illinois win at Toledo was exciting on Tuesday night,and hopefully the Huskies will again be in the MAC Title Game.They are a lock to return to a Bowl and that's great! But let's be real, the defense(or lack thereof)by both the Huskies and Rockets was a rumor-it was awful! But Chandler Harnish,the NIU quarterback is terrific. Who's the best QB in the State of Illinois now? Harnish? Dan Persa of Northwestern and Nathan Scheelhaase of Illinois? No matter who you favor, that's three pretty good QB's on the College level in the Land of Lincoln. NU had Shane Colter as the backup and air apparent to Persa.
