Woman, 83, Dies Nearly A Week After Being Hit By Car

CHICAGO (CBS) — An 83-year-old South Side woman died Thursday, nearly a week after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street near her home.

Queen Maize, of the 6300 block of South Peoria St., was struck by the vehicle around 1:30 last Friday at 6300 S. Morgan St., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where she later died.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cited, Mirabelli said. He did not have the driver’s identity or the citation information Friday morning.

I’m pretty sure the citation that was issued is, Failure to avoid the carelessness of another person. No wonder so many drivers leave the scene.
