CHICAGO (CBS) — A lot of attention has been focused on the Caleb Hanie, but he’ll need plenty of help from his offensive line and defense to be successful against Oakland, WBBM Bears analyst Tom Thayer says.

The offensive line needs to give Hanie confidence with pass protection and by ensuing the Bears get off with a strong running game behind Matt Forte. And the defense needs to make sure Oakland doesn’t put up big plays.

“If the Bears can limit what Oakland can do successfully, it’s going to help Caleb Hanie’s confidence,” Thayer said.

Hanie was thrust into the starter’s role after Jay Cutler was sidelined with a broken thumb.

“It’s going to be a hostile environment and it’s going to be up to everybody to do their part.” he said.
