CHICAGO (CBS) — A teenage boy is dead, and a young woman was left seriously injured, following a shooting in the Albany Park neighborhood Monday evening.

The shooting happened around 7:45 p.m. in the 3100 block of West Montrose Avenue, near Albany Avenue, police said.

A 17-year-old boy was shot in the back and was dead upon arrival at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to Fire Media Affairs. A 20-year-old woman was shot in the buttocks and taken in serious condition.

Patrons of a nearby restaurant say they dove to the ground when the gunfire began.

No one inside was injured.

The Committee on Rules reviewed the proposal of the Republican-led effort to allow Illinois residents to carry concealed weapons by obtaining a permit in another state
and other amendments Monday evening to decide which were suitable for consideration on the House floor. However, the Illinois effort did not make the cut.
