(CBS) Former Blackhawk and current Calgary Flames forward Rene Bourque will have a discipline hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety Monday afternoon for his hit on Brent Seabrook in Sunday night’s game.
With 4:35 left in the first period, Bourque hit Seabrook from behind, driving the defenseman’s head into the glass. Seabrook immediately fell to the ground with his head laying motionless face first on the ice for a few moments. He was helped off the ice and did not return to the game.
Bourque was assessed a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for the hit. He now faces a possible suspension.
The Blackhawks won the game 4-2.
