Report: Cubs Close To Trading Marshall To Reds

CHICAGO (CBS) — The Cubs are reportedly close to sending lefty reliever Sean Marshall to the Cincinnati Reds for lefty starter Travis Wood and at least one, perhaps two, minor league players.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the deal won’t be made official until the exact players are agreed upon and they pass physical examinations.

Marshall is a year away from free agency, while Wood would be under the Cubs’ control through 2016.

Reached for comment, Marshall said, “I look forward this opportunity…to have my career run into the ground by Dusty Baker.”

Not a good move by the Cubs. Marshall never was given the opportunity to really pitch for the Cubs. When he was given the chance, he performed well. As in most Cub trades, the player goes to another team and starts a great career. I’m sure Marshall will be a force in the Majors, but not with the Cubs.
