(CBS) Not only are the Cubs not players for Prince Fielder, but Theo Epstein plans to completely rebuild, according to CSNChicago’s David Kaplan.

In a report on CSNChicago.com, Kaplan says “a complete and total rebuild of the Cubs is more likely than ever to take place during the remainder of the off-season.”

Kaplan cites two sources that confirm the Cubs will not offer free agent first baseman Prince Fielder a contract. In fact, those sources “expect the Cubs to try to move most of their valuable assets before spring training and that a complete overhaul of the team will definitely happen.”

The report also indicates pitcher Sean Marshall is on the trading block, but a deal with Cincinnati for Travis Wood is not as close as some reports have indicated.
