Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Teen On Train

CHICAGO (AP) -- A Chicago parolee has been charged with sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl at knifepoint on a train.

The Chicago Tribune reports that 55-year-old Earl Cowen faces charges of aggravated criminal sexual assault with a weapon. At the time of his arrest he was being sought on a parole violation warrant.

The teenager told police she was on a Blue Line train bound for downtown Chicago late Saturday when a man sat behind her and told her he'd kill her if she did not give him money.

She said he displayed a Swiss army knife and sexually assaulted her with his hand.

Police responding to a 911 call of a sexual assault on a train arrested Cowen nearby. The paper reports the teen later identified him as her attacker.
