(CBS) The Cubs and reliever Kerry Wood are making progress toward a new one-year deal, according to FOXSports.com’s Jon Morosi.
The deal would also include an option for with an option for 2013.
Morosi broke the news on Twitter Wednesday.
The Cubs and Wood have been working on a deal recently, but have been haggling over the terms. Talks had reportedly broken off for a few days.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times Gordon Wittenmyer, Cubs President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein said Wednesday that if they can’t work out a deal with Wood then “something’s wrong.”
