Bloomberg, Boston Mayor Make Friendly Bet On Super Bowl

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) –All bets are in!

Mayors Michael Bloomberg and Thomas Menino are making a friendly wager on the Giants-Patriots Super Bowl XLVI matchup.

If the Giants win, one New York City family will be chosen to get a super tour of Boston.

The winning family will receive four roundtrip tickets on JetBlue, a two-night stay at the Ritz Carlton, dinner at Legal Seafoods Harborside and Top of the Hub, tickets to a show at the Citi Performing Arts Center, box seats to a Bruins or Celtcis game, a Duck Tour ride, and tours of the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum, personal diaries of John Adams and Samuel Adams Brewery.

If the Patriots win, one Boston family will get four roundtrip tickets on the Delta Shuttle, a two-night stay at the Grand Hyatt, dinner at the Russian Tea Room and B Smith’s restaurant, club seats to a Rangers or Knicks game, tickets to the Phantom of the Opera, a ride with the captain on Statue Cruises to Liberty and Ellis Islands, and tours of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Brooklyn Brewery.

“New York sports teams have a history of cleaning up when they go to Boston – and now our fans will have a chance to do the same,” said Bloomberg.

The winners will be chosen through an online lottery system.

More information about how to enter will be available from the losing city after the Super Bowl.

Bloomberg will be in Indianapolis on Feb. 5 for the big game.

The was at the Giants-Patriots Super Bowl four years ago in Phoenix and joked that his presence there may have had something to do with New York’s victory.

He is encouraging all New Yorkers to wear blue this Friday.

WCBS 880′s Monica Miller On The Bet Between The Breweries

Four years ago, Brooklyn Brewery co-founder Steve Hindy says he made a Super Bowl bet with Boston’s Harpoon Brewery that the loser would have to put the winner’s beer on tap for one week.

This time, Harpoon’s president was on the line the minute the Giants beat the 49ers.

“He clearly wants revenge, and so I was more than happy to take up the bet again” Hindy told WCBS 880 reporter Monica Miller.

But this time there’s a twist.

“The brewery staff and the brewery presidents have to wear the opposing team’s jerseys for the week,” said Hindy.

Hindy says a win for the Giants this weekend also means a win for the brewery.

Sales go up anytime a New York team makes it to the post-season.
