Police Seek Man Who Approached Boy With Bike In Naperville

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (CBS) -- Police in Naperville are asking for help as they investigate what they're calling a suspicious incident.

Two people called police after they saw a man approach a young boy around 4:40 p.m. Monday at Country Lakes Park, at 736 Genesee Dr. north of North Aurora Road in Naperville.

The witnesses said they watched the man and the boy walk south toward a tree line along North Aurora Road before they disappeared.

The boy might have been riding or walking along with a Mongoose bicycle at the time. Naperville police Sgt. John McAnally said that very model of bicycle was found in the area soon afterward.

McAnally told the Naperville Sun that police are not certain what they are dealing with yet. There are no reports of missing children in the Naperville area, he said.

The boy was described as being white and blond-haired. He appeared to be between the ages of 7 and 10, and was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt with red sleeves.

McAnally said the man was described as being approximately 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds. He wore a dark-colored, knee-length coat, dark pants, a black hat and gloves.

Anyone with information about the man, the boy or the bicycle is asked to call Naperville police, at (630) 420-6173.
