Don't Miss This

By Barry Rozner-

(CBS) It’s a question no one wants to ponder, but it’s one that has to be asked:

Should the Blackhawks consider shutting down Jonathan Toews for the rest of the season?

If you know anything about Toews, you also know his answer would be, “Not a chance.”

But Toews has already missed five games, having played perhaps as many as six games with a suspected concussion.

If he can come back and play safely at 100 percent, then it’s fine. If he can’t, then he shouldn’t.

I don’t think the Hawks are going very far even with Toews if they make the playoffs. They have too many holes. The way they’ve gone into free fall over the last two months, I sort of doubt they even hold on to a playoff spot without Toews and with their upcoming tough schedule.

Going back to the horrible hit and resulting concussion that Jonathan Toews suffered 2 years ago (or so), the Blackhawks didn’t keep that injury under tight wraps like they’re doing this time around?

Comcast Sports interviewed Niklas Hjalmarsson, he has a concussion. But Toews wasn’t in the clubhouse.

That’s bad news. Need an update directly from the Blackhawks. These “guessing game” articles aren’t helping.

car accident, head snapped back by joe thornton, no flying, previous history, cant presently play—and the team stinks? NO way I’d let this 7mil a year investment play the rest of this losing season…even if they make the playoffs, what are they going to get 2 or 3 games, maybe? Those 2 or 3 games revenue arent worth Toews long term future/health (think Crosby) this year….save him for next year, if in fact he can pass all the required tests. also, dont risk this kids future life with this if he isnt really ready. he’s won an olympic gold medal, a stanley cup, and a conn smythe trophy all before age 23—its ok if he had to call it quits, theres not much more to attain if it involves losing your mind to do it.

  • SPAULDING!

I think they can get to the playoffs without him. I don’t think they can win a playoff series past the first round without him.

Assuming he’d be much healthier to play next year, they need to look past this season.
By the way, Coach Q is doing a really good job. And, he has the locker room despite the bad 2012.
