(CBS) After losing to Ohio State in a heart-breaker Wednesday night, Northwestern is still sitting right on the edge of the NCAA Tournament bubble.

With a must-win game looming at Iowa Saturday, the Wildcats can’t afford another loss. With a win, Northwestern would have an 18-12 overall record and an 8-10 record in Big Ten play. How does that stack up against other major-conference bubble teams who made it into the NCAA Tounament the last five seasons?

Here’s a look at how Northwestern’s record compares along with a glimpse at what these teams did in their conference tournaments to help them get in:

    What were the RPI ratings of these teams? Northwestern’s conference record is not impressive, but their RPI is in the top 50. I believe in recent years an RPI of 50 or better has always gotten teams an at-large berth.
