Crash Shuts Down 3 Lanes At North End Of Lake Shore Drive

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Just as the morning rush began, all but one lane was blocked at the north end of northbound Lake Shore Drive following an accident.
CBS 2's Derrick Young reports three lanes were blocked at the north end of the Drive just before Hollywood Avenue as of 6:30 a.m., and traffic was only getting by in the right lane.
Two sport-utility vehicles were involved in a crash, and both drivers were taken to an area hospital, reports CBS 2's Kris Habermehl.
One SUV spun out and was broadsided by the other, right at the curve where Lake Shore Drive bends into Hollywood Avenue.
The extent of the accident victims' injuries was not known.
The traffic volume on the northbound Drive was light Friday morning, and thus, there were no major delays resulting from the accident. But traffic was at a standstill near the scene of the crash.
