September 19, 2002 - Father and son run on the field and attack a coach at Comiskey Park

Two players from opposing teams fighting isn't all that uncommon in professional sports, but when fans are involved, the situation is elevated to a different level.

That's exactly what happened in a late regular-season game between the White Sox and the Royals in 2002.

Reports indicate William Ligue Jr. and his 15-year-old son were sitting in the first row down the right field line at Comiskey Park, hurling insults throughout the game directed at Royals first base coach Tom Gamboa.

As the game progressed, Gamboa allegedly made an obscene gesture toward Ligue and his son, which caused the father and son to run onto the field and attack him. The duo slammed Gamboa to the ground and started punching and kicking him before they were separated by players and security.

Ligue Jr., was charged  with aggravated battery, a felony. His son was charged with two juvenile counts of aggravated battery, one for attacking Gamboa and the other for hitting a White Sox security guard, an off-duty police officer.

Gamboa claimed he had no exchanges with the two before they attacked him.
