CHICAGO (CBS) — A Far Northwest Side woman is missing after checking into a hotel downtown this past weekend.

The woman, Renee McElhaney, 48, of the 8500 block of West Gregory Street, left the hotel in the 300 block of North Michigan Avenue about 6 p.m. and hasn’t been spotted since, according to an early Wednesday missing person alert from police News Affairs.

The alert said she left her belongings in a room at the hotel.

McElhaney is a white woman with medium complexion, standing 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds, with brown hair and eyes, according to the alert.

The alert did not include a description of what the woman was last seen wearing.

McElhaney normally lives with her family at the Gregory Street home. Police have not said why she checked into a hotel.

Police ask that anyone with information about her whereabouts call detectives as (312) 744-8266.
