Man Killed In Englewood Drive-By Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) — A man was killed Sunday afternoon during a drive-by shooting in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.

He was shot multiple times when a van pulled up to him in the 1400 block of 72nd Place about 12:15 p.m., police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office identified the man as 23-year-old Brian O’Neal. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 12:25 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said.

It isn’t clear yet if the shooting was random or not, and police don’t have a description of the van.

A man believed to be the alleged offender was spotted fleeing the scene in the van, police said.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
