(CBS) Welcome home, Rayvonte Rice.
Rice, the former Champaign Centennial star point guard, will transfer from Drake to Illinois, sources told the Chicago Tribune.
Rice’s eligibility at Illinois is expected to begin in 2013 for two seasons. The 6-4 sophomore averaged 16.5 points and 5.7 rebounds this season for the Bulldogs.
As Centennial’s all-time leading scorer, Rice was a runnerup for the 2012 Mr. Illinois Basketball award and won the 2009-10 Gatorade Illinois Boys Basketball Player of the Year award.
