Woodstock Man Faces Multiple Child Sex Assault Charges

CHICAGO (CBS) — Woodstock police say their investigation is still active, but it was a tip from the suspect’s wife that led them to open it.

The McHenry County State’s Attorney’s office has charged 49-year old Margarito Fabian with eight felony charges for criminal sexual assault or sexual abuse of a child.

Police Sgt. Chip Amati says he was found at a Motel 6 in Joplin on Friday, attempting to flee to Mexico. Amati says Fabian was using his credit cards which allowed police to track him down.

The Woodstock Child Advocacy Center was called in to help with interviewing the child victim, who’s said to be a relative of Fabian’s.

He’s in a Missouri jail cell, with a $100,000 bond, awaiting an extradition hearing.
