AURORA, Ill. (STMW) – The state Department of Children and Family Services has launched a probe into the death of a 3-year-old girl from west suburban Aurora.

Eryn Boyd, of the 1700 block of Cumberland Road, was pronounced dead at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood on Friday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. An autopsy preformed Sunday was inconclusive and was pending further studies, the medical examiner’s office said.

DCFS spokesman Jimmie Whitelow said the agency is looking into allegations of neglect but declined to say whom in under investigation. Whitelow said DCFS is not investigating Boyd’s mother or father, and a child at the home is now in the care of a relative.

Whitelow said DCFS has not had prior contact with the family.

An Aurora police spokesman did not return calls for comment.
