SKOKIE, Ill. (CBS)– A young boy on a bicycle was run over and killed in north suburban Skokie Monday evening in what authorities call a chain-reaction accident.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed they were called for a child hit by a car and the child died.
It was part of a multi-car accident at Saint Louis Avenue and Main. Skokie police said one car turning on Main hit another, which hit another and then struck the child on a bike on the sidewalk.
One resident called it “absolutely tragic.”
“Apparently they can’t find a parent yet. It’s just so sad that he’s there all by himself,” she told a photographer at the scene.
