Elderly Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Car In Des Plaines

DES PLAINES, Ill. (STMW) – A 83-year-old Mount Prospect man died Thursday after he was hit by a car in northwest suburban Des Plaines.

Paul Garvin, of the 300 block of North Wille Street, was struck by the vehicle in the 500 block of River Road in Des Plaines, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

He was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was pronounced dead at 3:37 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

A Saturday autopsy found he died of a subdural hematoma because of the crash and ruled his death an accident.

Des Plaines police had no immediate information on his death Sunday morning.
