Wells Clears Waivers, Assigned To Iowa

(WSCR) Struggling Cubs pitcher Randy Wells has cleared waiver and accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Iowa.

Wells had been designated for assignment, but no team claimed the right-hander. He was 1-2 with a 5.34 ERA in 12 games – four starts – this season.

Moving forward, manager Dale Sveum said either Casey Coleman or Chris, Volstad will take Wells’ spot.
