WRIGLEY FIELD (CBS) – Chris Volstad will look to improve on his 0-7, 7.94 ERA this year on Saturday against the Dodgers.

“We pretty much have him penciled in Saturday,” Sveum said. “(Justin) Germano on Sunday.”

No elaboration needed from the manager, who is left with very little in the rotation right now. Th next three days are set with Jeff Samardzija pitching Friday, Volstad Saturday and Germano Sunday. But early next week in San Deigo is up in the air.

Matt Garza will do a bullpen session this weekend, and the earliest he could see the mound in a game is Tuesday.
