(WSCR) Now that you’ve gotten your first look at the 2012 Bears, it’s time to review their first preseason game against the Broncos.

As the Bears fell 31-3 at Soldier Field last night, most eyes were focused on the play of first-round draft pick Shea McClellin, who registered three tackles and a sack.

“I think Shea McClellin flashed exactly what they’re looking for, which is that presence off the edge,” Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune and National Football Post told The Mully and Hanley Show. “I think there’s plenty of stuff that he can clean up and continue to improve, but the one thing you can’t coach up is the burst, that first-step quickness, that speed around the edge. Rod Marinelli can’t do much to improve that. That’s what we saw and that’s what (the Bears) are looking for. I think that game is only a little bit of a confidence builder for Shea McClellin.”

Rookie wide receiver Alshon Jeffery led the Bears with four catches for 35 yards, showing flashes of potential.

“You talk about a rookie doing well like Shea McClellin, for Alshon Jeffery to come up with four catches – I thought two of them were really examples of what he can do for them, which is use his body to shield the defensive back and make a play,” Biggs said. “Boy, he just couldn’t get off the press coverage. That’s something you were concerned about, and I think it’s going to be an issue. I talked to one scout after the game from another club and he said what this kid needs to do to maximize his ability is to embrace this possession receiver-type mold and go out and become the best Keyshawn Johnson he can possibly become. Maybe that doesn’t set your world on fire, but every offense needs one of those guy.”
