SUV Driver Struck, Killed By South Shore Train

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A driver was killed after his SUV was struck by a South Shore train near South Bend on Sunday.

The motorist was struck by the train, which was traveling about 70 mph, after trying to drive around crossing gates.

The Chicago-South Bend train had about 200 passengers on board, and none of them was injured.

The accident happened just west of South Bend.

The train arrived about 90 minutes late.
