(CBS) The New York Yankees’ season is on the line today in the Bronx and Alex Rodriguez is not in the lineup.
Raul Ibanez was inserted into Joe Girardi’s lineup as the designated hitter with Eric Chavez playing third in the decisive Game 5 against the Orioles.
Rodriguez has just two hits in 16 at bats in the series and was pinched hit for in both Game 3 and Game 4.
Girardi said before the game that the benching is not injury related. Rodriguez, 37, still has five years left on his contract and is owed $114 million.
