For Smith, The Mission Is Simple Against Lions

CHICAGO (CBS) — Coming off the bye week, the Bears gear up for a critical division game against Detroit tonight at Solider Field and for Bears coach Lovie Smith the mission is simple.

“When you do play a division opponent, especially a home division game, you have to take care of business,” Smith told WBBM Newsradio’s Josh Liss on Monday morning.

Smith said the team is healthy and eager to get back on the field.

The coach said the Bears won’t be doing anything special to counter the Lions’ biggest threat, wide receiver Calvin Johnson.

“We believe in our defense,” he said.

A win will keep the Bears alone in first place and avoid an 0-2 record against division opponents.

Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. on WBBM Newsradio. Pregame starts at 4:30 p.m.
