Warm Sunny Start To Thursday To Give Way To Rain, Plunging Temps

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Thursday is starting off with plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures in the Chicago area, but will end up cold and rainy.

Temperatures were already in the mid to high 60s for much of the area by sunrise. The official high at O'Hare is expected to reach about 75 degrees, but some areas could see temperatures as high as 80.

But all that will change Thursday afternoon or evening, when a cold front will push rain through the parts of area, and temperatures will drop about 30 degrees, with a low of 44 overnight.

Thunderstorms also could move through the area overnight.

The cool temperatures will stick around, with a high of 51 on Friday, and highs in the upper 40s over the weekend.
