CHICAGO (STMW) – A second teenage boy was charged Tuesday with murder in the shooting death of a man earlier this month in the South Deering neighborhood.

The 16-year-old boy was arrested Monday on the South Side and charged as an adult with one count each of first-degree murder, attempted armed robbery and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, according to police News Affairs, which was not releasing the boy’s name because of his age.

The boy is one of two teenagers charged with murdering 18-year-old Terrance Wright about 3:40 p.m. Oct. 19 near East 99th Street and South Yates Avenue, authorities said.

Wright, of the 5000 block of South Carpenter Street, was shot in the chest and pronounced dead at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Witnesses told police they saw about five people take part in a robbery and shooting, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.

On Monday, a 14-year-old boy was charged as a juvenile in the murder. He was charged with three counts of murder and one count each of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm, attempted armed robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm, Cook County State’s Attorney’s office spokesman Tandra Simonton said.

The 14-year-old appeared Monday before Judge Andrew Berman in juvenile court and was ordered held in juvenile custody until his next court date Nov. 13.

The older boy is scheduled to appear Tuesday in Central Bond Court, police said.
