DuPage County Coroner Pete Siekmann said the nearly 3-year-old boy was never forgotten. He said a DNA test confirmed the child’s identity.

“It a long time coming,” Siekmann said. “It’s nice the little boy has his identity back.”

The boy’s cause of death has been classified has undetermined. Police believe his step-father may be responsible for the death, the Tribune reported.

Police started focusing on him when a 14-year-old Cicero girl and five of her younger siblings were taken from their parents because of abuse allegations.

The girl asked about a missing sixth sibling and detectives made the connection.
