Pedestrian, State Trooper Hurt On I-55 Near Lemont

LEMONT, Ill. (STMW) — A pedestrian and an Illinois State Police trooper were hospitalized after a “serious traffic crash” on Interstate 55 near southwest suburban Lemont.

A vehicle traveling south on Interstate 55 struck the center median wall and then a female pedestrian walking away from a different crash scene already being investigated by state police about 5:25 p.m. near Woodward Avenue in Lemont, according to an ISP alert.

The pedestrian was thrown into the northbound lanes and the vehicle continued south and struck the state police vehicle.

The pedestrian and a passenger inside the state police vehicle were hospitalized.

All southbound traffic south of Woodward Avenue was being re-routed to I-355, the state police said.
