Man Shot While Driving SUV On NW Side

CHICAGO (CBS)-- A 41-year-old man was shot while driving an SUV in the Northwest Side Belmont Craigin neighborhood early Tuesday.

The man and his two sons, 18 and 20, were traveling in an SUV about 5:25 a.m. in the 2800 block of North Austin Avenue when a black four-door car pulled up and opened fire, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said.

The car drove off and the SUV traveled four blocks before stopping to wait for paramedics, Perez said.

The man was hospitalized at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the upper left leg, Perez said. No one else was injured.

No one is in custody and Area North detectives are investigating.
