CHICAGO (CBS) — Fire gutted a 3-flat apartment building early this morning in the Bridgeport neighborhood. The residents got out okay.
WBBM pulled up to the gutted three flat to find neighbors helping Lillian Lee and her husband salvage what they could, which wasn’t much.
“I never knew this could happen on Christmas day,” said Lee. “You believe it?”
She and her husband were at midnight mass she said and they came home to their apartment at 30th and Emerald to find the building on fire.
Her pets, she said, everything is gone.
“My purse, and my coat, beautiful coat,” said Lee.
Looking out at the burned out building from across the street, she said it’s okay.
“I still believe God, I still believe God,” said Lee.
