Man Attacked CTA Bus Driver, Causing Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A passenger attacked the driver of a CTA bus, which then crashed into a parked car Monday in the North Side Albany Park neighborhood, police said.

Arnold Ward, 30, of the 800 block of West Montrose Avenue, was charged with a felony count of aggravated battery to a transit authority worker, police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan said.

Ward allegedly punched the driver while he was operating the CTA bus causing him to crash into the parked vehicle at 3:22 p.m. in the 3400 block of West Montrose Avenue, Sullivan said.

The driver was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital with injuries to his back and right shoulder as well as abrasions to his head.

Ward is expected Tuesday in bond court.
