Detroit Trounces UIC 98-47

DETROIT (AP) — Ray McCallum had 25 points and seven rebounds and Detroit built a 39-point halftime lead on the way to a 98-47 win over Illinois-Chicago Saturday night.

Jason Calliste scored 20 points for the Titans (12-7, 4-2 Horizon). Detroit hit 61 percent of its shots in the first half, and led 53-14 at the break. Illinois-Chicago made just 25 percent of its first-half shots and committed 13 first-half turnovers. The Flames finished with 21 turnovers while Detroit had eight.

Detroit had more 3-pointers (eight) than UIC had field goals (six) in the first half.

Nick Minnerath added 14 points and Doug Anderson scored 10 for the Titans, who finished with 10 3-pointers and at 55 percent overall from the field.

Gary Talton led the Flames (11-8, 2-4) with 11 points. Illinois-Chicago shot 32 percent.
