CHICAGO (CBS) – Chicago Police say a 25-year-old man was shot in a room of the Palmer House Hotel early this morning.

The shooting happened on the 22nd floor of the Palmer House, a party in one of the rooms, right down the hall from the room of Quinn Kirkpatrick from Rock Island.

“About two in the morning it got really loud,” said Kirkpatrick.

Kirkpatrick tells Newsradio he and his wife called the front desk to complaint about the noise.

And then someone was running down the hall.

“She heard one of the girls say, ‘Call 911,’” said Kirkpatrick.

Kirkpatrick says it’s hard to believe it happened in the storied Loop hotel.

“This is the Palmer House. Nice hotel, historic landmark. You never expect anything like that happening,” said Kirkpatrick.

Police say a man was shot in the leg and was in good condition in the hospital. As of 9 a.m., no one was in custody.

The 22nd floor is a concierge floor, with limited access.
