Rose Takes 'Next Step' But Thibodeau Stresses Patience

(CBS) Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau indicated Monday that Derrick Rose could participate in full-contact practices by the end of the week. Well, it only took one day for Rose to take a step forward in taking more contact.

"He did a little more, taking on some contact," Thibodeau said after Tuesday's practice. "He's doing fine."

How much contact Rose took was a little unclear, but it certainly was a step forward for the Bulls' point guard.

"He's been cleared for more contact. He went to the next step today," Thibodeau said.

Despite the encouraging development, the Bulls will continue to take their time with Rose's comeback from a torn ACL and he still could be weeks away from seeing game action.

"It's going to be a while," Thibodeau said. "It's the next step in the rehab. Everyone has to be patient. He's doing fine, he's playing more, he's practicing more."
