Georgia-Pacific Plant On South Side Shutting Down
CHICAGO (CBS) -- About 100 people who work at a South Side box-making plant will be losing their jobs in the next few weeks.
Plant To Close; 100 To Lose Jobs
Georgia-Pacific says it will close its plant in the 400 block of East 138th Street by March.
Spokeswoman Karen Cole says employees were given the news last Thursday.
She says the plant is closing because the company wasn't able to make it "competitive."
Cole says Georgia-Pacific bought the facility in 1990.
