(CBS) - Notre Dame’s embarrassing National Championship defeat didn’t stop the the Irish from landing the commitment of one of the nation’s top tight ends.
The Irish on Saturday received an oral commitment from three-star tight end Durham Smythe from Belton, Texas.
“Officially committed to the University of Notre Dame!” Smythe wrote Sunday.
The 6-foot-6-inch, 230-pound Smythe is the No. 15 tight end nationally, according to a ranking from Rivals.com.
