Roniah Tuiasosopo Tells Dr. Phil He's Gay And 'Confused'

(CBS) The first part of Roniah Tuiasosopo's interview with Dr. Phil will air Thursday and the longtime psychologist went on the Today show to provide a glimpse of what the Manti Te'o hoax mastermind told him.

Most notably, there appears to be a revelation that may answer the question everyone wants to know: Why did Tuiasosopo do this?

Well, it appears he was in love with Te'o.

"Here we have a young man that fell deeply, romantically in love," Dr. Phil told Today. "I asked him straight up, 'Was this a romantic relationship with you?' And he says yes. I said, 'Are you then therefore gay?' And he said, 'When you put it that way, yes.' And then he caught himself and said, 'I am confused.'"

According to Dr. Phil, Tuiasosopo insists Te'o did not play any part in the hoax. The interview also suggests Tuiasosopo was the voice behind the phone calls and voicemails, which has been under dispute.
