White Sox Acquire Third Baseman Gillaspie From Giants
(CBS) The White Sox have acquired third baseman Conor Gillaspie from the Giants in exchange for minor league right-hander Jeff Soptic.
To make room for Gillaspie on the 40-man roster, the teams designated infielder Lars Anderson for assignment.
The 25-year-old Gillaspie spent the majority of the 2012 season with Triple-A Fresno, hitting .281 (116-413) with 14 home runs and 49 RBI in 108 games. The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder, who bats left-handed, also appeared in six games with the Giants last season, going 3-20 (.150) with two RBI.
