Winter Storm Watch For Chicago Tuesday, Up To 6 Inches Possible
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago could get another 3 to 6 inches of snow on Tuesday, when a winter storm is expected to hit the area.
Early forecasts predict the storm could hit around 6 a.m. Tuesday, with a mixture of freezing rain, sleet, and snow. By about noon, the precipitation is expected to shift to all snow.
The storm is expected to dump at least 3 inches of snow on the Chicago area, with as much as 6 inches in some spots.
A winter storm watch is in effect from Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening, according to the National Weather Service.
The snowfall could be heavy at times, and wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour – especially near the lake – could significantly reduce visibility, and make driving dangerous.
