Elgin Police Investigating Murder Of Woman

ELGIN, Ill. (CBS) -- It turns out a 33 year old woman was found dead in her Elgin townhome this weekend moved in just a week ago.

She moved in with her husband, who Elgin police commander Glenn Theriault says is the one who made the gruesome discovery Saturday when he arrived home from work.

"He has been very cooperative through this. We are working with him to help support him though this incident and do our best again to find the person that did this to his wife," said Theriault.

Commander Theriault wouldn't comment on whether Lisa Koziol-Ellis had been sexually assaulted or if anything had been stolen. He did say that the Ellis' new home at 1 Garden Crescent Court had been a place where residents didn't seem to stay at for very long.

He wants neighbors to know police have stepped up patrols in the area.

Elgin Police won't say if this was a random act, or if Koziol-Ellis was targeted and that has residents at the garden quarters townhomes on edge.

"It's frightening, I don't know what happened to her. I was afraid that it's a break-in, and if it's a break-in, I'm afraid for my own safety," said neighbor Joanne Johnson.

Elgin Police expect an autopsy on the body of Lisa Koziol-Ellis to be completed tomorrow.
