CALUMET PARK, Ill. (CBS) — A man and a woman from Chicago died early this morning in a one-car accident on I-57 – and state police say alcohol played a role in the crash.

The driver, 24 year-old Tyrone Wright, his passenger 22 year-old Brittany Jones Jones both died in the accident on I-57 near 127th Street.

“It is believed alcohol was a factor,” said Illinois State Trooper Elizabeth Nanai.

Nanai said the 1997 Oldsmobile was going north on I-57 when it rolled over and went airborne and hit the guardrail, and then hit a concrete bridge support.

She said Wright and Jones were wearing seatbelts. The accident happened at about 4:30 a.m., two lanes of I-57 had to be closed while state police investigated.
