GARY, Ind., (STMW) – A brief argument led to the fatal shooting of two brothers on a Gary, Ind. street Sunday, court records filed Wednesday say.

Johnte Crawford, 17, and Donnell D. Wilson, 16, had just robbed a 15-year-old before they argued, then shot Shaqwone Ham, 19, and Charles Wood, 18.

Crawford and Wilson are charged with two counts of murder and one count of robbery each.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Wilson, a member of the “Get Fresh” gang, police said. Crawford is in custody.

The robbery victim told Detective Lorenzo Davis he was walking near Tolleston Park shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday when he saw three teenage boys and a girl also walking in the area.

Two boys, later identified as Crawford and Wilson, took the victim’s cell phone and headphones and ordered him to remove his clothing at gunpoint, the probable cause affidavit states.

The victim gathered his clothes and started running, then heard gunfire “and thought the subjects were shooting at him,” court records state.

Two people who were walking with the alleged shooters — Wilson’s girlfriend and her cousin — described the robbery and shooting to Davis, saying they watched the pair take items from the “little boy,” the affidavit states.

The witnesses said Wilson shot Wood, known as “Lil C” in the head. Police found Wood on 13th Avenue near Rutledge Street with a gunshot wound to his head. He died on Monday after he was disconnected from life support.

“When Shaq (Shaqwone) tried to run, Johnte shot him,” the affidavit states. “Johnte shot Shaq once and then ran up on him and shot him again,” the affidavit states. Ham collapsed in some bushes near the corner of a house at 2558 W. 13th Ave.

The witnesses then ran from the scene but were joined by the suspects a few minutes later.
